Hunters live rough lives. That much is known. They're tough,
resilient, and possessing of skills the normal world cannot even
fathom. But every once in a while, a wire gets crossed.
Sarah Cavanaugh had married a hunter. And lived the life of a
hunter's wife, and the life of a rancher's wife. And it all crumbled
when her husband died. Not from the hunt, but from a heart
attack of all things. A life of no rest, stress, and bad food on the
road finally catching up with him
It was on Sarah's ranch that John Winchester appeared.
Resurrected from the very pits of hell. Sarah had already
become involved in some of the darker aspects of the occult, and
she seized this opportunity, binding John, keeping him weak and
tortured until his sons arrived. For the Winchester boys were a
topic whispered about in some circles. That there was something
off about one of them. They just didn't know which one.
It's been called by many names. Coven, cult, group of nutjobs,
but she set the Winchester boys up for her group, which was in
the service of a demon. Not THE demon, his rival, just as
dangerous and demanding. With their father as her trump
card, she was able to manipulate Dean and Sam into position
to be exploited and prepared. Dean passed the 'test' and was
taken. But she had underestimated John Winchester.
Weakened, body nearly broken, and amnesiac, he still rallied
for his boys, rescuing Dean, destroying the cult. Sarah was
caught in the crossfire, but she was not an innocent victim.
Her little stunt set up the world for its greatest battle, with the
Winchesters caught right in the middle of it. She would have
been proud of her machinations, had she lived to see them.
