Dean Winchester
The oldest son of John and Mary, Dean is haunted by what he
saw the night his mother died.  He saw a lot more than he ever
told either his brother or his father.  That night, his childhood
was shattered, and he had to grow up almost overnight.

From the moment Sam's nursery burst into flames, and his
father shoved the baby into his four year old arms, Dean had
taken it upon himself to be his brother's protector and guardian,
a role that a grieving John didn't argue with.

Dean went through the years taking care of his brother, taking
care of his father, and learning the hunt.  Weapons, hand to
hand combat, tracking, research, legends that weren't legends
but reality, they held more pull for him than school, which he
barely passed, not due to lack of ability, but lack of motivation.

He started joining his father on hunts at a young age, and
became more John's little soldier than John's oldest son.  He
rarely if ever questioned anything that John said, though Sam
did, pushing him into the mediator and buffer role.

He protected his brother from everything he could.  School
bullies, poltergeists, anything and everything, and couldn't help
the hurt he felt when Sam chose Stanford over him
and their father.  There was a period of estrangement
when the two brothers barely spoke, but when John
came up missing, the first person Dean went to was
Sam.  And when Sam's girlfriend was killed twenty two
years to the day as their mother, in the same manner,
it was Dean who pulled his brother out of the inferno.

The two brothers went in search of their father,
looking for answers to questions they didn't even
know they had, finally finding him, and a few answers
involving Sam's abilities and significance in the
scheme of things.

Dean nearly lost it when their father died, and the
guilt he felt over the deal he figured out later was
crushing.  If it wasn't for his brother, he would have let
himself go off and be killed on a hunt.   So needless
to say, he was skeptical and suspicious when they
recieved the phone call about the man in the well.
Even seeing him face to face couldn't sway Dean at
first.

Then Dean was put in a strange position.  Of being
hunted, and through all this, learned Sam was not the
only one with a special destiny.
